Adventure travel content creator Lexie Alford (@LexieLimitless) begins her "Charge Around The Globe" trip in the new electric Ford Explorer on September 8. The journey will cross six continents, visit around 30 countries and cover over 28,000km in less than 100 days.

Lexie Limitless, is an American adventure traveller who is notable for traveling to 196 countries before reaching the age of twenty-one. Alford was awarded two Guinness World Records; being the "Youngest person to travel to all sovereign countries" and being the "Youngest female to travel to all sovereign countries" at the age of 21 years.

Her new journey encapsulates the spirit of fellow adventurer Aloha Wanderwell, who became the first woman to drive around the world a century ago. Aloha used a gasoline-powered Ford for her journey and encountered numerous obstacles that required unusual solutions, such as using oxen to pull the car across mudflats, sand and rivers in India, and using human power to pull the car for miles in China when civil war made it impossible to buy fuel.

Like Aloha, Lexie will use a Ford in her attempt. The electric Ford Explorer she leaves at Le Hotel Royal in Nice - the same place where Aloha began her journey - is a pre-production prototype that is as close as possible to the vehicle customers will experience when it goes on sale in Europe next summer.

“This is an epic journey to prove what’s possible in an electric vehicle, as we know range and charging are the two main concerns people have when thinking about making the switch to electric,” said Martin Sander, general manager, Ford Model e Europe. “Lexie will be putting charging infrastructure to the ultimate test; if she can get around the world in an EV, then anyone can use one in Europe, every day.”

Charge Around The Globe" is Lexie Alford's attempt to become the first person to circumnavigate the globe using only electric power. To claim the record, she must meet strict requirements. For example, the distance must be at least 28,968 kilometers and pass through two antipodal points, places that are exactly opposite each other on the globe. The journey must also end where it began. Employees of the RecordSetter organization will record the correct course of the record attempt at various locations around the world.
