Nissan showed a duel between the Leaf EV and a jet plane. What for? Just so you know, you don't have to buy a whole plane to experience "real acceleration."

The Nissan Leaf kicks off the new model year with a cool new video commercial. In the new short clip, you can see the electric five-door hatchback racing a jet plane. We won't reveal the winner, but we can tell you that it's a close battle with a minimal difference at the finish line, which focuses on the Leaf's brisk acceleration from a standstill.

The Nissan Leaf, a symbol of the automaker's early efforts in electric mobility, has come a long way since its launch. Produced at plants in Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom, the zero-emissions hatchback has made its mark in 59 markets around the world. From its debut in 2010 to more recent iterations, owners of the EV have cumulatively driven more than 10 billion miles worldwide, preventing more than 2.5 billion kilograms of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere, according to the manufacturer.
