224,502 new passenger cars were registered in September, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). At -0.1 per cent, the registration volume was roughly the same as in the same month last year.

Commercial vs. Private Registrations

  • New commercial registrations saw a robust increase, rising by +5.7 percent, representing 66.9 percent of all registrations.
  • In contrast, new private registrations experienced a decline of -10.3 percent during the reporting month.

German Brands Performance

  • Among German brands, Smart achieved remarkable growth with a staggering +137.4 percent increase in registrations.
  • Opel and Mini also posted strong double-digit growth.
  • However, Porsche faced -5.6% decreases in new registrations.

Import Brands

  • Among import brands, Jeep outshone others with a remarkable +96.7 percent growth.
  • Peugeot, Suzuki, Citroen, and Nissan also recorded significant increases.
  • Tesla faced a substantial decline at -69.3 percent.

Green Vehicles

  • 31,714 new electric cars were registered, although this number decreased by -28.6 percent compared to the previous year.
  • Hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles saw growth in registrations.
  • Diesel cars also saw an increase of 4.6 percent.

Commercial Vehicles

  • The commercial vehicle market showed positive signs, with new truck registrations increasing by +10.8 percent.
  • Bus and coach registrations declined by -26.5 percent.
