The 2024 BMW X2 will launch in xDrive28i and sportier M35i xDrive guises. Will be available at dealerships in March 2024.

The roofline of the X2 flows seamlessly into the rear, creating a slim, coupe-like silhouette, something which we already knew from the model’s spy photos. The model-specific headlights, a fresh take on the rear lights, and the optional illuminated BMW kidney grille all set the X2 apart from its X1 sibling. The new X2 is also the first compact BMW to be offered with optional 21-inch wheels.

The X2's body panels feature clean surfaces with a minimal number of dynamic lines, and the door handles are integrated flush with the body. The slender side window area sports a tweaked interpretation of the Hofmeister kink, contributing to the X2's more elegant profile. Shallow roof rails in black high gloss are available as an option.

The new BMW X2 has grown by 194 millimetres in length over its predecessor to 4,554 millimetres, by 21 millimetres in width to 1,845 millimetres and by 64 millimetres in height to 1,590 millimetres. Plus, its increased wheelbase and wider tracks benefit space in both the five seats and the boot. The new X2 has a maximum load capacity of 560 – 1,470 litres, depending on the model variant. The BMW iX2 offers between 525 and 1,400 litres.

In the interior, BMW has put a focus on touch and voice control through the BMW Curved Display and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, powered by the new BMW iDrive 9, which was first launched on the 2024 BMW X1 M35i xDrive in June this year. The curved center display consists of a 10.25-inch information display and a 10.7-inch infotainment display, merging seamlessly behind a curved glass surface. The QuickSelect tool enables quick activation of selected functions without delving into submenus, and a tap on the home icon brings users back to the home screen.

Last but not least, among the new interior features is a cabin-facing camera that can take photos and record videos. The newly developed seats are also offered in the Veganza perforated variant and Vernasca leather with attractive quilting as alternatives to the standard cloth upholstery. Customers can also specify sport seats, electric seat adjustment with memory function, lumbar support and a massage function. Further improvements have been made to both acoustic comfort and occupant protection. Standard equipment now includes an interaction airbag between the driver’s seat and front passenger seat.

Two-zone automatic climate control, the navigation system BMW Maps and a Sport leather steering wheel all come as standard in the new BMW X2, as do automatic tailgate operation, four USB-C ports and a 12V power socket in both the centre console and the boot.

From the market launch of the new BMW X2, a performance model will be available. The new BMW X2 M35i xDrive is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 221 kW/300 hp in Europe and 233 kW/317 hp in the U.S. and other markets.

The X2 M35i xDrive accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. It features M-specific chassis, xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive and M adaptive suspension. M Compound brakes are available as an option.

The new BMW X2 sDrive20i is powered by a three-cylinder gasoline engine from the latest modular generation of the Efficient Dynamics engine family. In conjunction with the 48-volt mild hybrid system, the 1.5-liter engine delivers a maximum output of 125 kW/170 hp (from the combination of the combustion engine with up to 115 kW/156 hp and the integrated electric motor with up to 14 kW/19 hp).

The four-cylinder diesel engine in the new BMW X2 sDrive18d has also been upgraded. It has a maximum power output of 110 kW/150 hp. All of the internal combustion engines available for the new BMW X2 are mated to a seven-speed dual clutch Steptronic transmission as standard.

Global production of the new BMW X2 will take place at the company's Regensburg plant.
