The Avatr 12 was developed using Changan’s CHN smart electric vehicle platform and draws its design cues from the Future Elegance design ethos. To date, companies like Huawei, CATL, and Changan have poured in over 2 billion yuan (~274 million USD), as per the CEO's statement.
Categorized as a luxury mid-to-large sedan, the vehicle boasts dimensions of 5020/1999/1450 mm with a 3020 mm wheelbase. It offers tire options of 265/45 R20 and 265/40 R21.
The car sports a front closed grille, typical of electric vehicles. Its split headlights and taillights are crisply designed, while the C-shaped daytime running lights become instantly recognizable when illuminated. The sleek fastback design, paired with starry rims and concealed door handles, grants the car a dynamic appearance.
Inside, the dashboard is dominated by a 35.4-inch 4K panoramic display that projects rearview visuals on both ends and provides various driving data. Additionally, there's a hovering 15.6-inch central screen and a geometric double flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel. A standout feature includes Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4.0 and the ADS 2.0 Advanced Driving System. The vehicle also comes with 64-shade ambient lighting and a 27-speaker sound system.
The Avatr 12 offers both two-wheel and all-wheel drive models. The all-wheel drive variant utilizes Huawei’s DriveONE dual-motor setup, with the front and rear motors delivering powers of 195 kW and 230 kW, respectively. The single-motor model's peak power is 230 kW. Avatr sources its 94.53 kWh ternary lithium battery pack from CATL, structured in an H-shape to maximize cabin space. The car's NEDC electric range stands at 650 km and 700 km, and it also accommodates high-voltage rapid charging.
The Avatr 12 is slated to hit Chinese showrooms this October and is set for a November release. A launch in international markets is planned for a later date.
