Initially introduced in September, the Motocompacto was created by U.S-based Honda engineers as a compact, foldable electric scooter. It's intended to serve as a convenient mode of transportation for short distances, ideal for navigating through urban cores or college campuses.
When folded, the scooter is compact enough to fit in a car's trunk, much like its predecessor, the Motocompo. The original model was equipped with a 49cc engine that generated 2.5 hp (1.8 kW/2.5 PS) and had a maximum speed of 18 mph (29 km/h). A key feature of the Motocompo was its foldability, enabling it to snugly fit in the trunk of a 1983 Honda City Turbo II.
The modern-day Motocompacto aims to capture that essence for today's audience. It comes with a 490-watt (0.6 hp) electric motor, energized by a 6.8Ah battery. It also includes an integrated charger, allowing for a full charge in just 3.5 hours.
Constructed with a heat-treated aluminum frame, the scooter weighs 41.3 lbs (18.7 kg). Its design enables stacking, so you can store multiple units in the trunk of your electric vehicle. Honda also emphasizes its ease of use, as well as its focus on safety and long-lasting durability. Additionally, its small size makes it convenient for use on public transport.
