These seats are engineered with dual air-over-oil shock absorbers that adeptly manage seat movement both vertically and laterally. They're tailored for occupant size and seating preferences, ensuring a ride that's as comfortable as it is personalized.
Earlier this year, Toyota lifted the veil on these performance seats, and now, SEMA attendees are getting a virtual taste of their capabilities without venturing into the wild. Mounted on a six-degree-of-freedom simulator, created by Toyota Connected North America (TCNA), the experience replicates a high-velocity off-road course. This setup is meticulously calibrated to mirror real-life data acquired from Toyota's rigorous seat testing in the Arizona proving grounds.
Eric Bursch, a design and innovation leader at TCNA, emphasized the merging of top-tier gaming technology with their R&D insights to showcase the IsoDynamic Performance Seat's potential in an entertaining yet informative way.
Allen Danklefsen, TCNA's technical executive producer, noted that the simulator serves an additional purpose: giving future 2024 Tacoma buyers a preview of the seats' comfort, especially for those who can't test them in an actual off-road scenario.
Toyota anticipates the release of the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro in spring 2024. While it's currently unknown whether these IsoDynamic Performance seats will be a standard feature or an upscale add-on, their debut has certainly made an impression at SEMA.
