This advancement is part of Lotus's commitment to an all-electric lineup by 2028, a transition marked by the release of the Emira, their last internal combustion engine model. Lotus's electric portfolio includes the Eletre SUV, the Emeya sedan, a forthcoming small crossover, and an electric sports car. To support these vehicles, Lotus is launching a variety of charging solutions.
The new charger's capability is illustrated by its performance with the Eletre R model, which can recover 88.5 miles (142 kilometers) of range in about five minutes. For context, Tesla's Supercharger V3 and Hyundai's Ioniq 5 deliver 75 miles (120 kilometers) and 62 miles (100 kilometers) in the same timeframe, respectively. The charger can also boost the Eletre R's battery from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes at 450 kW, or add 74 miles (120 kilometers) in five minutes at 350 kW.
Complementing the charger is a liquid-cooled power cabinet, suitable for highway rest areas. Lotus also offers a charging unit capable of serving four EVs simultaneously. These charging solutions are operational in China and will expand to Europe and the Middle East by mid-2024, with further global rollout planned.
