BYD FinDreams Battery, a subsidiary of BYD Group Fudi Battery Co., Ltd., recently achieved a significant milestone by completing its first large-scale export of LFP Blade battery packs through air transportation. This event marks a critical development in the global distribution of large power lithium battery packs.

The export commenced with a batch of LFP blade battery packs departing from Huahu Airport in Ezhou, China, on an SF Airlines flight. The shipment arrived successfully at Frankfurt Airport in Germany in the early hours of November 24th. This event represents the first instance of China exporting large power lithium battery packs by air, a complex process due to stringent international aviation safety standards.

Air waybill packages containing lithium batteries over 35kg must acquire an A99 special approval letter from the civil aviation administration department. This approval process involves extensive safety testing of lithium battery transportation, packaging, emergency drills, and documentation approval.

Each package in this shipment weighed approximately 300 kg. To meet aviation safety requirements, BYD's Fudi battery pack underwent rigorous testing, including heating the fully charged battery to evaluate safety under extreme conditions. The identity of the buyer and the scale of the shipment were not disclosed, but industry analysts speculate that the recipient might be Tesla’s German factory.

To ensure transportation safety, the Fudi Battery team developed specialized aviation-specific explosion-proof boxes. This successful air transportation of the LFP Blade battery packs by BYD FinDreams Battery is a significant step in advancing safe power battery transportation in China. It sets a precedent for the standardization and normalization of air transportation of power batteries.
