Blue Innovations Group (BIG) has unveiled the R30, an all-electric yacht with ties to Tesla. The R30 made its debut this past weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida.

John Vo, the founder and CEO of BIG and former Tesla global manufacturing head, described the R30 as offering "the ultimate boating experience." This electric yacht boasts a substantial 221 kWh battery pack powering two motors with a total of 800 horsepower (596 kW). It aims for a top speed of 45 mph (72 km/h), combining high performance with clean energy.

The R30 is not just about speed and power. It features a user-friendly integrated UI, solar charging, and is a pioneering all-electric cabin cruiser in its class. At 30 feet (9 meters) in length, it's designed for both friends and family, offering a unique "folding ocean terrace" for expanded deck space, a kitchenette, air conditioning, and even a bathroom equipped with a bidet.

John Vo highlights the innovative design approach: “The R in R30 stands for Revolution. We're offering something radically different from the standard yacht design.”

Slated for production in the third quarter of 2024, the R30 is priced at $300,000. Reservations are open at $1,000, with an option for a $5,000 "BIG Reservation" for those eager to be among the first 100 owners.
