In an increasingly crowded electric vehicle market, the VF 3 aims to distinguish itself with its distinctive boxy design and vibrant color choices. However, it's worth noting that such a design might not be optimal for aerodynamics and overall driving range, which could pose a challenge for this EV.
The VF 3 strives to present a spacious, rugged, and boxy SUV appearance, although it's actually smaller than a three-door Mini Hardtop. To provide some context, the VF 3 measures 125.6 inches (3190 mm) in length, 66.1 inches (1680 mm) in width, and 63.8 inches (1620 mm) in height. Additionally, it boasts a notable ground clearance (exact measurement not provided) and rides on 16-inch wheels.
Moving inside, the cabin features a user-friendly 10-inch touchscreen equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Furthermore, the second-row seats can be conveniently folded down to create approximately 19.4 cubic feet (550 liters) of cargo space.
While the combination of practicality and style makes the VF 3 an enticing choice, potential buyers should be mindful of its estimated range, which is just over 125 miles. This should suffice for urban commutes but might prove less appealing for long-distance journeys, particularly in regions with limited EV infrastructure.
At this point, VinFast has not disclosed key details such as pricing, delivery dates, or warranty policies. Additionally, specifics about battery capacity, motor configuration, and power output remain a mystery. Nevertheless, the VF 3 is expected to carry a price tag below $20,000, potentially dropping to below $12,500 if eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit. The EV manufacturer plans to begin accepting early reservations later this year.
Ms. Tran Mai Hoa, Deputy CEO of Sales and Marketing at VinFast Global, expressed, "With the global debut of the VF 3, we are delighted to introduce a new electric vehicle to our lineup. More importantly, we are offering a new companion for the younger generation of drivers who prioritize practicality without sacrificing personality."
