For those not familiar, Zeekr is a subsidiary of the Chinese automotive giant Geely, specializing in luxury vehicles. One of its notable models is the 1,265-horsepower 001 FR, which was globally released last year to compete with the Tesla Model S Plaid. Zeekr announced last year its plans to introduce new electric models in the United States, and the 007 is likely one of them.
In terms of appearance, the 007, initially unveiled at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show, fits the profile of an executive sedan. It boasts a sleek design, arguably sleeker than the recently unveiled Yangwang U7, and it matches Tesla's electric vehicles in terms of aerodynamic efficiency.
At the front, it features a distinctive "grille-less" design highlighted by elongated C-shaped LED daytime running lights. The lower front section includes a slim vent, while the smooth hood on top has subtle character lines. The car's styling focuses on subtlety, resulting in an appealing, all-around sleek look, complemented by the slender LED taillights.
The Chinese-spec version of the 007 comes with a dual-motor setup for its all-wheel-drive variant. In its most potent configuration, it delivers 636 horsepower and offers a range of up to 540 miles (870 km).
The 007 also utilizes Geely's SEA architecture, which is also featured in the Jiyue 07, designed to compete with the Tesla Model 3. Thanks to this architecture, Zeekr claims that the 007's high-voltage 800-volt lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery can gain 380 miles (611 km) in just 15 minutes of charging.
Other noteworthy features in this Zeekr model are high-tech components, the result of collaborations with various companies. For instance, its front end incorporates a customizable digital panel from the French global automotive supplier Valeo. The Chinese market version also features a 15.05-inch touchscreen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip.
Pricing details for this luxury sedan are not yet available, but Zeekr's presence at CES 2024 indicates the brand's interest in entering the US market. Given its capabilities, this move holds promise for the future.
