The SAIC-Volkswagen version of the ID.7 electric vehicle has been unveiled by a government regulator in China.

Volkswagen operates in China through two main joint ventures with SAIC and FAW. The specific model showcased is dubbed the ID.7 S, produced by Shanghai Volkswagen (SAIC).

What's surprising is this version of the Volkswagen ID.7 stands out for being bigger compared to its European version. This information comes directly from listings by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The overall length in China measures at 5,026 mm compared to Europe's 4,961 mm. The front overhang in China is 946 mm, which has increased by 39 mm from Europe's 907 mm. The rear overhang also sees an increase in China with 1,114 mm compared to Europe's 1,088 mm. Width-wise, both versions are nearly identical: China’s version is just slightly broader at 1,864 mm against Europe’s 1,862 mm. For height, it is marginally reduced in the Chinese version to 1,537 mm from Europe’s 1,538 mm. Despite the changes, the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,966 mm.
