The disruption was due to attacks by Yemen's Huthi militia on international merchant ships in the Red Sea, which caused many ships to avoid the shortest sea route between Asia and Europe through the Suez Canal.
This disruption came after these attacks disrupted global trade routes, but Tesla announced the resumption of production after stabilising its supply chains and securing all necessary production components.
The company managed to keep certain departments operational despite the disruption, continuing maintenance work and training employees during this time.
Tesla is currently aiming to produce more than 6,000 cars a week at this plant. After a target of 10,000 vehicles per week was set in the initial phase two years ago, production figures are now being gradually increased. The plant employs 12,500 people and is of central importance to Tesla's European market presence.
