Mercedes-Benz plans to start selling the restyled Mercedes EQS in June this year. The updated electric car will be available with both the existing "sleek" front fascia and a more familiar "radiator grille" like the one fitted to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
This was announced by Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Kallenius during the recent presentation of the company's report for the past year.
During the event, the company also showed an image of the new design element of the Mercedes EQS front end, emphasising its similarity to the one used in the flagship model with an internal combustion engine. In this image, the EQS is positioned on the left and the S-Class is on the right.
According to Kallenius, the EQS will also feature an upgraded battery with a new battery chemistry that will increase range .
The upgraded EQS will be available from June, although cars with the new battery are likely to go into production earlier, he said.
The battery is likely to be the same as on the updated EQS SUV, where the capacity was increased from 108 kWh to 118 kWh. This boost has provided an additional 50 kilometres of range. so with comparable changes, the sedan will be able to travel almost 800 kilometres on a single charge.
