The BMW Group has achieved its targets for the 2023 financial year. As of December, the group had delivered 2,554,183 vehicles, up 6.4 per cent on 2022, of which 717,620 units were delivered in the fourth quarter. Overall, deliveries have grown significantly over the year, giving the company an estimated market share of 3.3 per cent.
Things are also going well in the electric vehicle sector. The BMW Group delivered a total of 375,716 all-electric vehicles against 215,752 in 2022. The share of electric models in Group sales was thus around 15 per cent, as previously planned. Including plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), the BMW Group sold a total of 565,875 electrified vehicles. This represents an increase of 30.5 per cent compared to a year earlier.
The reasons for BMW's significant increase in the share of battery-electric models include the introduction of new models such as the BMW i5, iX1 and iX2. These will be joined by the electric Mini Countryman and Cooper in 2024, and the first BMWs on the Neue Klasse platform will hit the market in 2025.
"2023 underlined how consistently and successfully we are implementing our strategy. We demonstrated strong growth and significantly increased the share of all-electric vehicles while improving our operating profitability. Many people talk about 'transformation'. For us, it is more a matter of continuous progress," said Oliver Siepse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG .
