Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced that the company's goal is to release "best looking, easiest to drive and smartest car" at a price below 500,000 yuan. That's roughly $69,000 US dollars.
Later this week, Xiaomi will start taking orders and name the exact price.
The Xiaomi SU7 (stands for Speed Ultra) electric sedan was unveiled in December 2023. At that time, two versions were announced: with a single motor with 299 horsepower and with two motors that develop 673 hp. The range is 668 and 800 kilometres respectively. They accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.28 and 2.78 seconds.
The SU7 will get an automated driving system based on Nvidia's Drive Orin system-on-a-chip, as well as an on-board system on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip.
In China, the first Xiaomi SU7 is already on display at the brand's branded shops, but sales have yet to start.
