The teaser image showcased a silver rear fender, a tow hitch, and the left taillight of the SUV. Notably, the vehicle shares its angular design and blue paint with the 2024 Land Cruiser. One significant change is the placement of the Toyota badge — which has moved nearly at the base of the tailgate.
The company has signaled that this vehicle will go on sale later this year, with a rumor suggesting its official debut might occur in just a few weeks.
According to media reports, the new 4Runner will have the same engine options as the new Tacoma. These include a turbocharged four-cylinder that produces between 228 and 278 horsepower. A more powerful i-Force Max option is also possible.
Currently in its fifth generation, which started sales in 2009, the 4Runner model is part of the J150 series platform. This platform also underpins related vehicles such as the Land Cruiser Prado, Lexus GX, and FJ Cruiser. Assembled in Japan, this generation was only made in left-hand drive configurations and was not sold in Japan or any markets requiring right-hand drive vehicles.
