Xpeng, a Chinese electric carmaker, has announced its expansion into the German market and plans to enter France, Italy, and the UK next.

This move marks Germany as the fifth European country Xpeng ventures into after Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark in 2023. The company aims to secure a 3% market share for new energy vehicles by the end of the year. Sales of its G9 SUV and P7 sedan will start in May 2023.

The company has ambitious goals for its operations in Europe. Along with expanding its market presence, Xpeng aims to increase its number of operating locations from 24 to 120 by 2026.

The models set for release in Germany include the G9 SUV and P7 sedan. The G9 SUV will be available in three versions: RWD Standard Range priced at €57,600, RWD Long Range at €62,300, and AWD Long Range at €69,600. Their specifications vary from a 78.2 kWh battery with 308 hp power to a more advanced model with a 98 kWh battery, two electric motors producing 543 hp power and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

The P7 sedan comes in three versions: RWD Long Range priced at €49,600, AWD Performance at €58,600, and Wing Edition at €69,600. Each version features an innovative design with varying power outputs from 276 hp to an impressive 473 hp. The Wing Edition also includes Lamborghini-inspired scissor doors.

Markus Schrick, Xpeng Germany's managing director expressed enthusiasm about entering the German market: "The launch in Germany is a milestone moment for Xpeng and we are delighted to be able to take our place in one of the most competitive automotive markets in the world. We are excited to invite our new customers to test and experience the G9 and P7 models and see the quality of our vehicles for themselves." He highlighted the dealer network's EV-experience which is expected to facilitate smooth introductions of their models across Germany.
