Tesla has announced that its Cybertruck will now feature an off-road mode, complete with locking differentials. This update, set for release soon, is designed to enhance the truck’s capabilities on rugged terrains like rocks and sand.

Launched five months ago, the Tesla Cybertruck initially missed some features typical of modern pickups. The new off-road mode will improve handling in challenging environments such as gravel, deep snow, and sand. For various terrains, the addition of locking differentials aids in better traction and control.

The dual-motor model includes locking diffs, while the triple-motor model boasts a front-locking differential and a virtual rear-locked differential active in Overland mode.

Additional features include "Trail Assist," which helps with low-speed maneuvering over uneven surfaces by managing vehicle speed and allowing drivers to focus solely on steering. There is also a "Baja Mode" that adjusts the vehicle's stability assist feature to minimal ensuring better balance and handling.

Tesla's announcement on X conveyed that these updates would be available through an over-the-air software package "rolling out soon."
