Insurance costs varied significantly across different states according to the study. Michigan reported the highest average insurance rate at $3,406 annually for drivers over 55 years old. In contrast, Maine boasted the lowest rate at $938. The income-to-insurance ratio also highlighted economic disparities; Michigan had a high ratio of 6.68%, indicating a significant burden relative to income level. New Hampshire enjoyed a much lower ratio at 1.73%, making it more financially accessible for senior citizens.
