The new fourth-generation Nio station accommodates 23 electric vehicle batteries, compared to 21 batteries in the third-generation station. This enables the station to support up to 480 battery changes per day.
The new stations have six wide-angle lidars and four Orin X chips. This system ensures seamless automatic battery changes initiated by the vehicle itself without the driver's involvement.
In addition to increased battery replacement speed and greater capacity, the fourth-generation stations are compatible with many makes and models of Chinese brand vehicles without additional modifications. Previously, swap was only available for Nio models and just a few other manufacturers.
Along with these swap stations, Nio has also launched powerful 640-kilowatt charging stations. These chargers deliver up to 765 amps at a maximum voltage of 1000V. They have a fairly light charging gun weighing 2.4kg.
As of June 2023, Nio has built a network of 2,432 battery replacement stations and 22,633 charging points across China.
