Ineos has delayed the launch of the Fusilier due to economic uncertainties and low demand for electric vehicles (EVs). The model, introduced earlier this year, was set to feature electric and range-extended powertrains. Originally, Ineos planned to announce details by this fall, but now the timeline is uncertain.

Ineos told Bloomberg that the delay is due to "reluctant consumer uptake of EV and industry uncertainty around tariffs, timings, and taxation." While the exact new launch date is unknown, the model was initially expected in 2027.

The Fusilier was going to be developed with Magna Steyr and become the company’s third model, featuring both electric and range-extended powertrains. The range-extended version was particularly emphasized as it aimed to cater to a wide range of global consumer needs while advancing decarbonization.

When unveiled in February, Ineos Chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe highlighted the need for diverse powertrain options, stating that while battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are suitable for short trips and urban deliveries, other technologies are necessary to meet broader requirements and reduce emissions effectively.

The Fusilier, described as a slightly smaller and more modern version of the Grenadier, is seen as less of a Land Rover Defender copy and more of a Mercedes G-Class clone. However, detailed specifications of the Fusilier have not been fully disclosed.
