A classic Caterham Seven and a UK Royal Air Force (RAF) helicopter, the Puma HC2, have been uniquely combined in a special project that highlights their stark differences yet brings them together in a creative way. The result is a one-of-a-kind Caterham Seven 360R incorporating parts from a decommissioned helicopter, set to be auctioned off through Collecting Cars, with hopes of raising over £100,000 ($128,000).

This special Caterham, inspired by the Puma HC2 helicopter that served since 1972, is finished in NATO Green with a Desert Sand-colored chassis. Unique features include aluminum skin from the helicopter's tail boom and doors, and even the helicopter’s door jettison handle.

Assembly of the car was a joint effort between Caterham and serving personnel from RAF Benson who were all involved throughout the build process.

The interior of the car carries on the helicopter theme, using quilted soundproofing from the Puma on the door panels, tunnel top, and carbon fiber seat padding. The dashboard is designed to mimic the Puma’s cockpit, complete with the helicopter’s navigation clock and a three-stage ignition sequence.

Under the hood, the Seven 360R is powered by a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated Ford Duratec engine producing 180 hp and 143 lb-ft (194 Nm) of torque, enabling it to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h). Weighing in at just 565 kg (1,245 lbs), the car also features Caterham’s Track Suspension Pack and 13-inch wheels with Toyo R888R tires.

The Caterham Seven 360R has been built to raise money for injured service men and women and will be auctioned off through the internet classic car auction site, Collecting Cars. Bidding opens 15 August and ends 12 September.
