Seat confirmed this to Autocar, stating, “The Seat Tarraco has been a success. But there will be no Tarraco successor. From mid-2024, we will focus on the new Cupra Terramar in the segment, and it will fill this space very well. The Tarraco will then be phased out – it will end its production by Q2 2024.”
The end of the Tarraco was anticipated, given its absence from Seat’s March 2024 reboot presentation. In contrast, the Ibiza, Arona, Ateca, and Leon models will be updated, extending their lifecycles until the "end of the combustion era."
Although Seat labels the Tarraco a “success,” the sales data tells a different story. Sales in Europe dropped from 29,615 units in 2019 to just 12,872 units in 2022. The company did not disclose 2023 sales figures.
The Cupra Terramar will act as the indirect successor to the Tarraco, offering a sportier design, advanced technology, and electrified powertrain options (mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid) shared with the VW Tiguan. However, the Cupra is 235 mm (9.25 inches) shorter than the Tarraco.
Despite the announcement, the Tarraco is still listed on Seat’s official websites and will be available while stocks last.
