Honda is set to expand its EV lineup in China with the new Ye series, starting with the Ye S7. Recently, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and Dongfeng Honda revealed more photos and specifications for the Ye S7, the first model in this range.

The Honda Ye S7 was initially previewed at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, alongside the P7 and the low-slung GT Concept. Following its appearance on China’s MIIT website, Dongfeng Honda released new images of the Ye S7 in black through their social media channels.

The exterior of the S7 features sharp surfacing and angular wheel arches, similar to the P7. Unique elements include full-width LED headlights and a Cadillac-inspired tail design. The EV also sports mirror-replacing cameras and flush door handles to enhance aerodynamics.

Inside, the Ye S7 boasts a large portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen that spans the center console and a smaller digital instrument cluster mounted high on the dashboard. Ambient lighting integrated into the dashboard and door trim, along with a large dual sunroof, adds to the interior's appeal.

According to MIIT, the Honda Ye S7 measures 4,750 mm (187 inches) in length, 1,930 mm (76 inches) in width, and 1,625 mm (64 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm (115.4 inches). These dimensions place it in the same category as the Tesla Model Y and Mustang Mach-E, alongside numerous electric SUV rivals from Chinese brands.

The Ye S7 rides on an EV-dedicated architecture developed in China. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version features a single electric motor producing 200 kW (272 PS), while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) model includes an additional front-mounted motor generating 150 kW (204 PS). Although range details were not specified, earlier reports suggest the EV can travel over 500 km (311 miles) on a single charge, thanks to a CATL-sourced ternary lithium battery pack.

Honda plans to launch the Ye S7 and P7 in China by the end of the year, with the GT following in late 2025. The S7 will be produced by the Honda Dongfeng joint venture, while the P7 will be manufactured by GAC Honda.

Honda has committed to introducing ten EVs in China by 2027, with six coming from the Ye Series. The company aims to become an EV-only brand in the region by 2035.
