Audi will unveil the sixth-generation A6 saloon and estate tomorrow (31 July), marking a significant shift to electric power for this iconic model.

Audi has shared a teaser image of the A6 e-tron, providing a glimpse of its pixelated daytime running lights that also function as turn signals, and slender taillights connected by an illuminated strip. An illuminated Audi logo at the rear, a first for Audi in Europe, "shines bright like diamonds."

While Audi is keeping details under wraps, the A6 e-tron has been spotted with split lighting units, a fully enclosed grille, streamlined bodywork, side camera mirrors, and minimalist door handles. Other features include an upward sweeping beltline and a long sloping roof.

The A6 e-tron will ride on the PPE platform, similar to the Q6 e-tron. This suggests it could have a roughly 100 kWh battery pack and various powertrain options. A rear-wheel drive variant might offer 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) with a range of 556 – 641 km (345 – 398 miles). A dual-motor all-wheel drive variant could deliver 382 hp (285 kW / 387 PS) with a range of 540 – 625 km (335 – 388 miles). Additionally, an S6 e-tron version is expected to pack around 483 hp (360 kW / 489 PS).

Full details will be revealed soon, shedding light on Audi's new direction for one of its most successful models.
