The new A6 e-tron, based on its 2021 (Sportback) and 2022 (Avant) concept models, features subtle design tweaks including adjusted split headlights, a more prominent black chrome grille surround, traditional door handles, and broadened full-width taillights. Audi's advanced Matrix LEDs and second-gen OLEDs provide eight digital lighting signatures, and an illuminated emblem on the tailgate is optional.
Audi has focused on aerodynamics, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.21 Cd for the Sportback and 0.24 Cd for the Avant, making them the most aerodynamic models in their class within the VW Group.
Inside, the A6 e-tron shares much with the Audi Q6 e-tron, featuring a triple-screen setup: an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment display, and a 10.9-inch passenger touchscreen. Optional features include a panoramic glass roof, four-zone automatic AC with a fragrance dispenser and ionizer, and a Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System with 20 speakers and 830 watts.
Built on the PPE architecture shared with the Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan EV, the A6 e-tron offers several powertrain options at launch. The entry-level model has a single electric motor producing 362 hp (270 kW), while the A6 e-tron quattro features dual motors with a combined output of 422 hp (315 kW). The S6 e-tron, with a rear-biased AWD system, delivers 496 hp (370 kW), which increases to 543 hp (405 kW) with launch control, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.7 seconds. Audi is also developing a more powerful RS6 e-tron.
The A6 e-tron features a 100 kWh battery pack, supporting 270 kW DC charging, with a range of up to 750 km (466 miles) for the A6 and up to 670 km (416 miles) for the S6. A smaller 83 kWh battery option will be available later.
The A6 e-tron can be equipped with an adaptive air suspension, offering four ride height levels and reducing ground clearance by 20 mm (0.8 inches) in efficiency mode for better aerodynamics.
Orders for the Audi A6 e-tron in Europe start in September 2024. Prices in Germany begin at €75,600 ($81,928) for the A6 Sportback e-tron Performance, and €99,500 ($107,829) for the S6 Sportback e-tron. The Avant bodystyle adds €1,650 ($1,788) to the price.
