Ford BlueCruise has been approved by the European Commission for use in 15 European countries, covering over 133,000 kilometers of designated highways.

While Tesla’s semi-autonomous systems often receive more attention, Ford has achieved a significant milestone with BlueCruise, now approved for use in 15 European countries. This expansion follows earlier introductions of BlueCruise in Germany, Great Britain and Spain

Currently, the Mustang Mach-E is the only Ford model in Europe featuring the latest BlueCruise version. The system can be used on around 133,000 km (82,744 miles) of designated highways, called Blue Zones.

The longest uninterrupted highway stretch where BlueCruise can be utilized runs from Sweden to Italy, covering nearly 3,000 km (1,864 miles). Travelers on this route can use BlueCruise for over 25 hours straight.

BlueCruise manages steering, acceleration, braking, and lane positioning, while monitoring road markings, speed signs, and traffic conditions. A driver-monitoring system ensures drivers remain attentive. The system is available on all new Mustang Mach-E models, with plans to offer it to earlier Mach-E models in select countries through a software update.

“We believe BlueCruise can make highway driving easier and more enjoyable whether you are in stop-and-go traffic or on a long road trip, and with this recent ruling it will allow us to offer even more customers access to BlueCruise across Europe,” BlueCruise general manager at Ford, Ashley Lambrix said. “Expanding the availability of Blue Zones beyond Great Britain, Germany and Spain is also a huge milestone for us, allowing customers to use BlueCruise for a multi-country road trip.”
