Toyota has revealed an updated 2025 GR Corolla featuring an available eight-speed automatic transmission, sharper handling, and increased torque for the three-cylinder engine.

For the 2025 model year, the GR Corolla boasts several improvements. Customers can now opt for an eight-speed automatic racing transmission. Launch control has been added, along with suspension upgrades for enhanced handling.

The GR Corolla's turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine now produces 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, up from 273 lb-ft. Premium trims include a sub-radiator for better engine cooling, standard on the Premium Plus.

The new 8-speed Gazoo Racing Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT) stands out. Unlike the automatic transmissions in the GR Supra and GR86, the DAT anticipates gearshift times based on throttle and brake usage, providing a sensation akin to professional driving. Developed with racing driver input, the DAT offers four driving modes: Sport, Normal, Custom, and ECO, and includes an automatic transmission fluid cooler and launch control.

Mechanical enhancements include rebound springs in the front and rear suspension to minimize inner wheel lift during hard cornering. Improved rear coils and stabilizers, and a raised trailing arm mounting point boost ground contact response and controllability. Standard front and rear Torsen LSDs further enhance the all-wheel-drive hot hatch's dynamics.

Styling updates for 2025 include a more aggressive front bumper for better aerodynamics and cooling, and brake duct enhancements. Three trims are available: Core, Premium, and the new Premium Plus. All models feature 18-inch wheels, with the Premium Plus sporting a unique matte black finish and 235/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. Four exterior colors are offered: Black, Ice Cap, Heavy Metal (Premium Paint), and Supersonic Red.

The Premium Plus trim includes a carbon fiber roof, head-up display, GR Brin Naub seats with suede upholstery and red stitching, and gloss black air vents. All GR Corolla models come with an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloud-based navigation, and voice activation with the "Hey, Toyota" command. The system supports over-the-air updates.

Safety features include Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Road Sign Assist, lane departure assist, automatic high beams, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, and Lane Tracing Assist. The 2025 GR Corolla also includes a one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association (NASA), offering discounted event admission and a free High-Performance Driving Event.

The new GR Corolla will arrive in dealerships this winter, with pricing announced closer to the release date.
