The sixth-generation Nissan Caravan, known for its durability and practicality, has remained largely unchanged for 15 years. Competing directly with the Toyota HiAce, the standout MyRoom model features a factory-fit camper conversion, pairing a basic exterior with a cleverly designed interior.
Launched in October 2023 as a limited-time “Launch Edition,” the Caravan MyRoom has now become a permanent addition to the lineup, appealing to camping enthusiasts. Built on the Caravan’s long body, standard roof, and standard width variant, it measures 5,080 mm (200 inches). Its exterior is typical of an LCV, with unpainted bumpers and black steel wheels matching the grille, mirror caps, and door handles.
New for this year, the camper is available in a Deep Forest shade, among five color options. However, most buyers may prefer the MyRoom-exclusive Sand Beige finish with a white roof. Discreet “My Room – Into the Nature” stickers on the side and rear windows add a special touch.
The interior, designed to resemble a fancy hotel, is far more impressive than the exterior. The rear cabin features wood grain finishes and modular furniture, allowing it to be configured as a living room, bedroom, or dining area. Windows are covered by blinds and curtains for privacy. The second row of seats can be flipped into a comfy couch, complemented by a sliding and removable table. For sleeping, Nissan offers a two-part folding bed or a simpler lift-up bed, both covered in herringbone fabric.
Power for the camper comes from portable battery packs recycled from the Nissan Leaf, providing energy for electronic devices via an AC 100V outlet, even off-grid.
The camper is available with two powertrains: a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter QR20DE gasoline engine producing 130 hp and 178 Nm (131 lb-ft) of torque, or a Mitsubishi-sourced 2.5-liter 4N16 diesel generating 132 hp and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft). Both engines are paired with a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The gasoline version comes with rear-wheel drive, while the diesel variant is also available with four-wheel drive.
Depending on trim and configuration, the Nissan Caravan MyRoom is priced between ¥5,516,500 ($37,633) and ¥6,855,200 ($46,766). However, it is likely to remain exclusive to the Japanese market.
