The study, titled "Future Attribute Demand Study (FADS)", revealed that front row wireless charging pads are a top priority for drivers planning to purchase a new vehicle within the next three years. These pads, which cost around $50, ranked highest in importance across various car features evaluated.
AutoPacific's study surveyed 14,900 licensed U.S. drivers and analyzed their preferences across 163 different automotive features. These included autonomous driving capabilities, advanced safety technologies, essential family features, cutting-edge infotainment systems, and connectivity devices. Notably, wireless charging for rear passengers also gained significant attention, securing the second spot on the list of preferred attributes.
Other popular features identified in the study include heated and ventilated seats at $550 followed by rain-sensing windshield wipers priced at $75, and sunroof-moonroof combinations costing approximately $800. Additionally, driver profile settings which allow for customization of seat adjustments, LED light signatures, suspension stiffnesses and infotainment shortcuts saw a rise in demand — jumping from tenth to sixth place this year.
Another trend highlighted by AutoPacific is the increasing value placed on personalization within vehicles. This is reflected in the rising interest in driver-specific settings where 35% of respondents noted their desire for such customizable options.
