Stellantis will keep all 14 of its car brands. The company made this clear in a recent press release, putting to rest rumors about selling or shutting down any of its brands.

The automotive giant, formed in 2021, manages a diverse lineup that includes Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia, DS Automobiles, Citroën, Peugeot, Opel, Vauxhall, and Abarth. Running so many brands globally isn't easy, with some overlap and the risk of brands competing with each other for sales.

Stellantis' announcement contradicts what its CEO, Carlos Tavares, said just a month ago. He had hinted that unprofitable brands could be axed, stating:

"If they don't make money, we'll shut them down. We cannot afford to have brands that do not make money."

This statement, along with industry speculation, led to rumors about potential changes. Some thought Maserati might be up for sale, while others wondered if Lancia or DS Automobiles could be phased out. Stellantis' new statement proves these rumors false.

The company's commitment extends to all its brands, even those facing challenges. Lancia, for example, will get new models and expand beyond its home market. Maserati, Stellantis' luxury brand, is refreshing its lineup. DS Automobiles, which became a separate brand in 2014, hasn't taken off as expected, but Stellantis isn't giving up on it.

Abarth, an independent entity since 2007, will continue selling souped-up Fiats. Chrysler, once a major player, now only offers the Pacifica minivan after discontinuing its aging 300C sedan. Dodge has added the Hornet (a reskinned Alfa Romeo Tonale) to its lineup and is introducing a new Charger with electric and inline-six power options, though it's discontinuing the V-8 in this model.

Interestingly, Frank B. Rhodes Jr., great-grandson of Walter P. Chrysler, recently expressed a desire for Dodge and Chrysler to leave Stellantis and form a new Chrysler Corporation. He's looking for investors to make this happen, but Stellantis' announcement suggests this won't be happening anytime soon.
