Volkswagen plans to unveil its updated 2025 Taos crossover on September 12, 2023. The company released a teaser image on September 11, giving us a glimpse of what's to come for one of its best-selling vehicles.

The darkened teaser image shows off the front end of the new Taos. It features a slender, fully enclosed "grille" with an illuminated strip at the top. The headlights sport new X-shaped accents, and the front bumper looks more aggressive. These design changes echo the style of newer Volkswagen models like the Golf and Tiguan.

Spy photos from earlier this year suggest that most updates will focus on the front end. There might be some changes to the taillights and rear bumper as well. Inside, the Taos could follow the facelifted Jetta's lead with a new infotainment system and modernized switchgear, but that's just speculation for now.

The current Taos runs on a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It puts out 158 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel-drive models use an eight-speed automatic transmission, while all-wheel-drive versions have a seven-speed dual-clutch. It's not clear if Volkswagen will make any changes to the powertrain for the 2025 model.

The current Taos starts at $23,995, plus a $1,425 destination fee. Volkswagen hasn't announced pricing for the 2025 model yet, but it will likely stay under $25,000 to remain competitive in the crossover market.

We'll get all the details about the 2025 Volkswagen Taos when it makes its full debut on September 12. The updated model is expected to hit dealerships later this year.
