The prototype's appearance has got people talking. It's sporting split headlights and a rear wing, clear signs that this isn't your average Ioniq 6. These changes hint at a more aggressive look for the N model.
Hyundai first teased us with the idea of a souped-up Ioniq 6 shortly after showing off the standard model in mid-2022. While the test car looks pretty mean, it's not as extreme as the RN22e concept we saw earlier. The body seems a bit wider than the regular Ioniq 6, but it's not as muscular as the concept.
Up front, the bumper sticks out more and has big air intakes. The prototype also has side cameras, though these might not make it to all markets. At the back, there's a large wing on the trunk lid, adding some serious sporty flair.
The car rides low to the ground, suggesting a stiffer suspension setup. Red brake calipers with N branding peek out from behind black wheels, hinting at some serious stopping power.
Some folks think the Ioniq 6 N's design might be based on a facelifted version of the standard model. The split headlight design could become a feature across all Ioniq 6 variants. There's also talk of a wide LED light bar above the main headlights, similar to what we've seen on the latest Sonata.
While Hyundai's keeping quiet about the technical details, it's likely the Ioniq 6 N will borrow the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup from the Ioniq 5 N. In that car, it delivers 641 horsepower and 545 pound-feet of torque, enough to hit 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds.
The Ioniq 6 N will probably use the same 84-kWh battery pack as the Ioniq 5 N. However, thanks to its sleeker shape, it might go further than the Ioniq 5 N's 221-mile range.
Compared to its boxy sibling, the Ioniq 6 N should handle better due to its lower center of gravity. It'll likely weigh less too, which could mean even better performance.
We'll have to wait a bit longer to see the final product. The Ioniq 6 N is expected to make its debut later in 2025, though it's not clear if this will coincide with a facelift for the regular Ioniq 6.
