The new Stingray Karaoke App will let drivers and passengers sing their hearts out while on the road or parked. Ford plans to make this feature available in the 2024 F-150 Lightning first, then roll it out to other models.
When the car is parked, lyrics will show up on the in-vehicle screen. But the fun doesn't stop when the car's moving. The app can tell if there's a passenger buckled in the front seat. If so, a QR code pops up on the screen. The passenger can scan this code with their phone to control the karaoke session. They'll be able to add songs, change tracks, and see scrolling lyrics. The best part? They can use the car's sound system without needing to log into any app.
Singers will have plenty of choices. The app offers rock, country, pop, R&B, Latin, K&J Pop, and family-friendly songs. It supports songs in 38 languages and has an interface in 36 languages. It even handles special characters for languages like Thai, Hebrew, Russian, and Greek.
Ford will introduce the app in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe with the 2024 F-150 Lightning. The Mustang Mach-E will get it soon after. Later on, Ford plans to add it to other models through its Ford and Lincoln Digital Experience platform. These models will include the 2025 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Navigator, Aviator, and Nautilus.
The company will use software updates to roll out the app. They'll do this bit by bit, depending on the model year of each vehicle.
