Audi is expanding its electric lineup with the Q6 Sportback e-tron, adding a sleek new model to its popular body designs.

Originally popularized by BMW with the X6, the SUV-coupe design entered the electric age several years ago. Audi already offers the Q4 Sportback E-Tron and Q8 Sportback E-Tron, and now debuts the Q6 Sportback E-Tron at the 2024 Paris Motor Show.

This model is a streamlined version of the Q6 E-Tron, a sibling to the Porsche Macan EV. Its roofline is 3.8 cm lower than the standard SUV, reducing the drag coefficient from 0.28 to 0.26, enhancing efficiency. Audi says the roofline recalls the original TT Coupe, though the bulkier design differs significantly.

The Q6 Sportback E-Tron shares features with other models on the Premium Platform Electric architecture, including split headlights and a minimalistic, high-tech interior with a triple-screen setup: a 14.5-inch infotainment system, 11.9-inch driver's display, and 10.9-inch passenger screen. Augmented reality and a head-up display are optional.

The Sportback is available in rear-wheel-drive or Quattro all-wheel-drive versions, with two battery options: 75.8 kWh or 94.9 kWh. The top-tier SQ6, with dual motors, offers 489 hp and a 0-100 km/h time of 4.3 seconds. Other versions include a 387 hp model for a 5.9-second sprint and a 306 hp rear-wheel-drive version for 6.6 seconds.

With the larger battery, the Q6 Sportback E-Tron can travel up to 656 kilometers on a single charge in the WLTP cycle. Fast charging allows 10-80% in 22 minutes, or 265 kilometers in 10 minutes.

All variants of the Q6 Sportback have a top fixed speed of 210 km/h. The SQ6 Sportback e-tron tops out at 230 km/h.

Rivals include the Genesis GV60, Kia EV6, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model Y, Porsche Macan Electric and Polestar 4.

In the US, it will come with all-wheel drive and the larger battery, with an estimated range of 300 miles. The US release is expected in spring or summer 2025.
