This hot little number is based on the facelifted Peugeot 208, but it's been souped up for the FR6 Trophy series. That's a new racing series kicking off in 2025 as part of the French Rally Cup, organized by the French motorsport federation.
Stellantis, Peugeot's parent company, is the first big manufacturer to jump on board with the FR6 Trophy.
On the outside, you'll spot white steel wheels and some eye-catching lime green accents on the daytime running lights. The white bodywork is decked out in a fancy livery that'll turn heads on the track.
Inside, there's a roll cage for safety, and an automatic fire extinguisher system just in case things get too hot. The dashboard's been tweaked to cut down on glare, and there's a multifunction display to keep the driver in the loop. They've also added a kill switch and some custom controls on the center console.
Under the hood, Peugeot's cranked up the power on the 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine. It's now pushing out 154 horsepower - that's 45 hp more than the regular 208, but still 67 hp less than the more serious 208 Rally4. The whole package weighs in at 1,050 kg and sends power to the front wheels through a short-ratio six-speed manual gearbox.
The 208 Racing will run on Superethanol-E85 fuel, which Peugeot reckons will cut CO2 emissions by about 30% compared to regular gas. It'll ride on Michelin Pilot Sport PS5 tires.
Stellantis Motorsport engineers have also optimized the suspension and braking systems based on feedback from professional racers.
The 208 Racing is priced at €38,900 ($42,110) before tax, significantly less than the 208 Rally4. Stellantis is already taking orders and expects deliveries to begin in February 2025.
