Kia has decided to pull the plug on the Proceed model in the UK. The Korean car maker made this call after the car spent 16 years on sale, citing low sales as the main reason.

A spokesperson from Kia explained they're trimming down the Ceed model line. They want to focus on the models that sell best. The Proceed didn't sell as well as its siblings in the Ceed family.

Kia will keep selling the Ceed hatchback, Ceed estate, and Xceed in the UK. The Xceed is the star of the show, making up nearly half of all 'Ceed family' sales in the country.

The Proceed first hit the roads in 2008. Back then, it was a spiced-up version of the regular Ceed. In 2019, Kia gave it a makeover, turning it into a shooting brake to compete with cars like the Volkswagen Golf Estate.

Despite the fancy new look, the Proceed couldn't keep up with its brothers. Since its 2019 redesign, it only sold about 10,000 cars. That's way behind the Ceed and Xceed, which together sold around 60,000 more in the same time.

Kia had good things to say about the Proceed, though. They praised its quality, practicality, and eye-catching design. But in the end, the numbers didn't add up. Right-hand-drive Proceeds made up only a small part of overall Ceed production and sales.

If you've already ordered a Proceed, don't worry. Kia will still honor those orders. They also said you can still buy one from existing stock if you're quick.
