The Starship 7 joins Geely's Galaxy series, expanding the lineup that was introduced early last year. Geely positioned the Galaxy brand below its premium Zeekr marque, aiming to offer a range of vehicles with both plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains.
Despite its sci-fi-inspired name, the Starship 7 sports a conventional look for a midsize SUV. Its design borrows elements from popular models like the Porsche Macan and Cayenne, as well as Geely's own Galaxy E5. The front end features a grille-less design with high-tech LED lights and slim intakes. A character line along the side profile echoes the Galaxy E5, while a large sunroof tops off the vehicle.
The Starship 7's dimensions put it in the same league as established players in the midsize SUV segment. It measures 4,740 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,755 mm. These measurements make it similar in size to the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC, though its wheelbase is closer to the smaller BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA.
Inside, the Starship 7 boasts a modern interior with a large touchscreen dominating the dashboard. A smaller digital display serves as the instrument cluster, complemented by a two-spoke steering wheel. Ambient lighting runs through the dashboard and door cards. The center console slopes upward, housing a wireless charging pad and a panel with physical controls.
Geely offers two powertrain options for the Starship 7. Both versions use a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a single electric motor driving the front wheels. The base model comes with a 19.09 kWh battery from SVOLT, providing an electric range of 101 km. For those seeking more range, a version with a larger 28.94 kWh battery is available, extending the electric-only driving distance to 150 km.
Geely built the Starship 7 on its Global Energy Architecture (GEA) platform, which underpins various models across the company's brands. This versatile platform allows Geely to efficiently develop and produce a range of electrified vehicles.
The Galaxy Starship 7 will debut in China later this year. It's part of Geely's ambitious plan to launch seven Galaxy models by 2025, combining plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains to meet diverse consumer needs.
