The Škoda's smallest SUV to date is third locally developed model in India after the Kushaq and Slavia

Skoda's 'Modern Solid' design language shapes the Kylaq's exterior. The crossover sports a prominent moustache-like grille, slim LED daytime-running lights, and chunky plastic bumpers.

The Kylaq measures 3.99 m long, 1.62 m high, and 1.78 m wide. The Kylaq is specifically designed for the sub-4-metre category – a segment unique to India and highly popular, holding nearly 50% market share. This compact SUV is built on the localised MQB-A0-IN platform, which also supports the Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan.

"This SUV is built on four key pillars: comfort, quality, global design language, and safety. That’s why the Kylaq has been rigorously tested across varied terrains, altitudes, and weather conditions. It will lead our presence in India’s fastest-growing and most competitive segment.” said Johannes Neft, Škoda Auto Board Member for Technical Development.

Inside, the Kylaq seats five passengers and offers 360 litres of boot space, expanding to 1265 litres with the rear seats folded. A 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay takes center stage, while an 8.0-inch digital instrument panel sits behind the steering wheel. Some versions will offer an electric sunroof, and ventilated seats will be available as an optional extra.

Under the hood, a turbocharged 1.0 TSI three-cylinder engine delivers 85kW (115 hp) and 178 Nm of torque. Drivers can choose between a six-speed manual or a torque-converter automatic transmission.

With the manual gearbox, the front-wheel-drive Kylaq accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 10.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 188 km/h.

The Kylaq will hit Indian showrooms with a starting price of 789,000 rupees (about EUR 8,700 or £7300). It's unlikely to be offered in other countries, following the pattern of Skoda's previous India-developed models like the Kushaq SUV and Slavia saloon.
