Toyota Motor Europe has opened its first vehicle logistics mega hub in Kolin, Czech Republic. The new facility will process up to 350,000 vehicles each year and serve customers in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland.

Toyota invested 17 million euros in the hub, which sits within the grounds of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic. The company aims to cut down on wait times for Toyota and Lexus customers while improving the quality of accessorization and offering more customization options.

The hub also plays a role in Toyota's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. The company has been moving vehicle logistics from road to rail since 2022, connecting plants in the UK, France, and Czech Republic. These rail connections have already cut carbon emissions by 4,237 tonnes per year.

"This facility sets a new benchmark in vehicle logistics by ensuring best-in-class operations that deliver on time, in time & every time." said Jean-Christophe Deville, Vice President Supply Chain at Toyota Motor Europe.

Toyota plans to expand its rail logistics further. A new connection to Poland will support the production of the newly introduced Proace Max and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by an additional 1,099 tonnes annually.
