Mercedes-Benz has updated the Active Parking Assist function with Parktronic. The automatic parking process now takes place at speeds of up to 4 km/h and takes half the time.

The vehicle can search for a parking space at speeds up to 35 km/h. The blue "P" symbol on the display indicates that the car is ready for automatic parking. The system is able to detect even narrow spaces with only 50 cm of space around the edges, based on white markings, curbs or other cars.

When a space is found, a white arrow appears next to the parking symbol in the display. By engaging reverse gear, the driver can select the space and start the parking process. For transverse parking spaces, you can choose whether to park in forward or reverse.

To start parking, the driver presses a button on the screen. If the vehicle is equipped with a 360° view, the driver can select different angles for convenience.

The system takes into account various risks during automatic parking. If the sensors detect pedestrians, cyclists or vehicles, the system warns the driver with audible and visual signals. If there is no response, the car will apply emergency braking. This function works for both automatic and manual exit from parking spaces.

The update is already available for the E-Class, S-Class, EQS, EQS SUV, EQE, EQE SUV and all Maybach models with the "parking package".
