The BMW Group plant in Regensburg reached another milestone: on 13 December, the threshold of 100,000 all-electric vehicles produced since the beginning of 2024 was crossed.

The anniversary car that rolled off the assembly line in Regensburg is the BMW iX1. The car, painted in the metallic colour Blue Bay Lagoon, will be shipped to the island of Reunion (overseas region of France). The company has been producing this compact premium model since November 2022.

Regensburg plant director Armin Ebner revealed that more than a third of the cars produced this year have been electrified. These are plug-in hybrids (PHEV) or all-electric (EV) models. Annual production of such vehicles will be more than 330,000 units. In comparison, 238,301 units of electrified vehicles were produced in Regensburg in 2023.

Currently, more than 1,400 units of the BMW X1 and BMW X2 roll off the assembly line at the BMW Group's Regensburg plant every working day. The basic BMW X1 model will be available with all types of powertrains: as an internal combustion engine vehicle and plug-in hybrid, as well as the all-electric BMW iX1.
