Czech carmaker Škoda Auto has announced the start of series production of its new Elroq electric crossover. The vehicle will be the brand's most affordable electric crossover with a starting price of around €33,000.

The Elroq is produced at Škoda's main plant in Mladá Boleslav, where the Octavia and Enyaq models are also assembled. This is the only Volkswagen Group facility in Europe where combustion engine cars and electric vehicles are produced on the same line, which allows the company to respond quickly to changes in consumer demand.

To provide the necessary production capacity, part of the Octavia production has been moved to the Kvasiny plant in 2024, allowing for the production of up to 600 Elroq cars daily. In addition, the Mladá Boleslav plant produces battery systems for models on the MEB platform, reaching a target of one million batteries manufactured in December 2024.

The Elroq is Škoda's first all-electric model in the compact crossover segment and the first production model in the new Modern Solid signature design. The vehicle is available with three battery options and several power configurations: from 125 kW to 210 kW. The top-of-the-range version of the Elroq 85 is equipped with an 82 kWh battery (77 kWh of usable capacity) and offers a range of up to 581 kilometres on the WLTP cycle.
