?koda has announced the European sales launch of the all-wheel drive version of the updated Octavia in hatchback and station wagon (Combi) bodies.

The popular model of the Czech brand received a 2.0-litre TSI petrol turbo engine with an output of 150 kW (204 hp) and a seven-speed DSG transmission. The powertrain is 14 hp more powerful than the previous version and its maximum torque is 320 Nm.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 6.6 seconds for the hatchback and 0.1 seconds more for the station wagon. Top speed is 228 km/h and the maximum towed trailer weight is 1,900 kg. All-wheel drive is provided by an electrohydraulic clutch with the ability to transfer up to 100 per cent of torque to the rear axle.

If all wheels have the same traction, the inter-axle clutch distributes torque to a 50:50 ratio between the front and rear axles. Torque transfer between the axles is further optimised by the electronic EDS and XDS systems.

The updated Octavia 4×4 is available in Essence, Selection Loft, Lodge, Lounge, Suite and Sportline, but availability may vary from country to country. Prices in Germany start from 39,760 euros for the hatchback in the Selection configuration. The price tag for all-wheel drive Octavia in station wagon (Combi) with a similar configuration starts at 40,460 euros.

The first deliveries to customers will start in the coming weeks.
