According to Lu, Xiaomi needs to establish itself in its home market before entering foreign markets. He noted that after the debut of the Xiaomi SU7, many investors were sceptical about the brand's prospects in the car business, but the high demand for the model changed the situation.
Xiaomi's current model lineup:
- Xiaomi SU7 sedan
- crossover Xiaomi YU7
- Xiaomi sports sedan
At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Spain, Xiaomi unveiled its flagship SU7 Ultra electric sedan outside of China for the first time.
The SU7 Ultra has a three-motor powertrain with an output of 1,548 hp. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.98 seconds. The SU7 Ultra has a starting price of 529,900 yuan (~$73,000).
Xiaomi is planning a gradual expansion, and if sales in China remain strong, its electric cars could become a serious competitor in the global market.
