The updated Volkswagen Sagitar has yet to be officially unveiled, but the design and specifications have been fully revealed thanks to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which publishes information on certified models for the domestic market.
The Sagitar is actually an extended version of the seventh-generation VW Jetta, which is sold in global markets including North America. That said, it is close in size to the Passat:
- Length: 4,812mm
- Width: 1,813 mm
- Height: 1,479 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,731 mm
Visual changes include revised headlights with darkened lenses, a new grille and a black decorative insert between the air intakes of the front bumper. The VW logo will be available in black or chrome.
There are also body-cut door handles and three versions of 17-inch discs with black and silver spokes. At the rear, there are updated LED lights and a light bar between them, as well as a large Sagitar lettering.
The sedan is powered by a 160bhp 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine paired to a 7-speed DSG robot. The drive is front-wheel drive. Fuel consumption has not yet been revealed, but the TSI+DSG combination has always been famous for its fuel efficiency.
From the interesting features of the configuration for the Chinese market it is worth noting that the Sagitar will receive a built-in video recorder.
