Renault has carried out a planned refresh of the seven-seat Espace crossover. It has received a more modern design, new technologies and more comfort for driver and passengers.

Externally, the updated Espace is now more reminiscent of the Renault Rafale thanks to the similarity of the front optics. The bonnet, tail lights and boot door have also changed. LED headlamps are standard, while Matrix headlamps are available as an option. A new shade of Baltic Blue Grey has been added to the colour palette.

The main change in the interior is the optional Solarbay panoramic roof with an area of almost 2 m². It consists of nine segments, the transparency of which can be adjusted by voice commands via Google Assistant. The digital assistant remembers the settings and automatically restores them after the engine is started.

Another interesting novelty is the facial recognition system. The camera in the front left pillar detects the driver and automatically adjusts the position of mirrors, seats and multimedia system to him. By the way, the seats have also been updated - now they are more ergonomic and have new upholstery.

Espace is built on the CMF-CD platform. Its length is 4.74m and the three-row seating compartment extends to 2.78m. Boot capacity:

  • 5-seat version - from 692 to 2,224 litres
  • 7-seat version - up to 2,054 litres.

Under the bonnet is a hybrid powertrain based on a 1.2-litre turbo engine, which works together with an electric motor and starter-generator. The total power output is 200 hp. Acceleration 0-100 km/h takes 8.8 seconds, and the top speed is 175 km/h. At the same time, fuel consumption in combined cycle is 4.8 litres/100 km, and range on one tank - up to 1 100 km.

Renault Espace is produced in Palencia, Spain. Sales of the updated model will start by the end of spring.
