Nissan has revealed the design of the electric Micra, which is the "twin" of the new Renault 5. The model is focused on the European market and should appear as early as 2025.

This will be the fifth generation Micra, but the first all-electric one. The car shares the CMF-BEV platform with the technically close Renault 5 and will be produced at the French plant in Doué. At the same time, the design traces elements of the K12 model of 2002 - in particular, round headlights and taillights. In addition, the production version retains many design elements of the 20-23 concept 2023 Nissan.

The electric car will receive two battery options: 40 kWh and 52 kWh. The latter will provide a range of more than 400 kilometres. The power of the engines are not disclosed yet, but for reference Renault 5 has motors for 118 and 148 hp.

The design of the new Nissan Micra was worked on at Nissan's London centre, but the project itself was originally developed with Renault. The company's chief designer Alfonso Albaisa said it was the closest collaboration with the French team ever.

The price remains a mystery for now. But François Bailly, Nissan's head of Europe, has hinted that the Micra will be the brand's most affordable electric car. Given that the Renault 5 starts from 33,000 euros, we can expect a similar level.
